Transport Women Australia Limited and Daimler Truck & Bus Australia Pacific have announced the establishment of their Driving the Difference scholarship program for women in, or wishing to join, the transport industry.
As part of this initiative, Transport Women Australia Limited and Daimler Truck and Bus will be offering scholarships to four women in 2019.
The scholarships enable women within the industry to undertake a course that will advance their careers or expand their knowledge to enhance their current position, or give other women the chance to become part of the industry.
There will be four scholarships awarded this year with the winners announced at the Transport Women Australia Limited 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner on November 16, 2019.
Daimler Truck and Bus Australia Pacific recently became the only commercial vehicle manufacturer to be accredited with the WGEA Employer of Choice for Gender Equality (ECOE).
The EOCGE classification is designed to encourage, recognise and promote an active commitment to achieving gender equality in Australian workplaces and is a voluntary leading practice recognition program that is separate to the Equal Opportunity Act.
The criteria focusses on preventing sex-based harassment and discrimination as well as targets for improving gender equality outcomes.
Mr Whitehead says Daimler Truck and Bus is firmly committed to attracting and retaining gender diverse talent and achieving true gender equality and pay equity.
