The draft Case for Endorsement and training package materials for the Transport & Logistics Training Package (Release 8.0) were submitted to the Australian Industry & Skills Committee (AISC) in October 2020. At its meeting on 2 December 2020, the AISC approved the training package which has now been referred to the Skills Ministers for endorsement.
This included work on the following projects:
- TLI Rail Infrastructure Skills – The Rail Industry Reference Committee (IRC) updated seven rail infrastructure qualifications and associated Units of Competency to align with skill requirements at various operator levels. The revised Training Package also incorporates new technologies used in building rail infrastructure and automation used in track infrastructure installation and maintenance.
- TLI Fuel Storage Dangerous Goods Contractor – The Transport and Logistics IRC developed a new Skill Set and five new Units of Competency to enable a national standardised approach to managing contractors working on retail fuel sites. The new skills standards specify the skill and knowledge requirements to operate safely around fuel retail sites, and incorporate current legislation, codes of practice and other operational documentation.
- TLI Logistics and Warehousing Operations – Two existing Logistics and Warehousing qualifications were amalgamated by the Transport and Logistics IRC into one Supply Chain Operations qualification to meet the current and future skills needs of entry-level workers in logistic and warehousing roles.
