The Australian Government has asked the Productivity Commission to examine the nature and source of risks to global supply chains. The Commission will develop a framework for identifying supply chains that are vulnerable to disruption, identify imports of goods that might be vulnerable, and identify possible strategies to manage supply chains risks.
Submissions and comments are invited to inform the final report. An interim report, to be released in late March, will focus on supply chain vulnerabilities from Australia’s role as an importer. Participants are invited to examine the report and comment on it by written submission by Friday 30 April 2021.
The Commission is also looking to examine supply chain vulnerabilities from Australia’s role as an exporter. The Commission is particularly interested in understanding:
- how firms manage and respond to disruptions in export market conditions and access
- the impact that these disruptions can have, including in regional areas.
Comments and submissions on these issues are also invited by Friday 30 April 2021.
Consultation open for submissions until:
