The Queensland Government announced the continuation of the Skilling Queenslanders for Work Program on 13 June 2021.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work includes a range of programs designed to assist disadvantaged Queenslanders in gaining skills, qualifications and experience to enter and stay in the workforce. 2 new programs have been added to the initiative as part of the recent announcement:
- Community Foundation Skills – providing assistance to Queenslanders with low-level literacy, numeracy and digital (LLND) skills, to assist them towards further study or to enter the workforce.
- Skill Up – provides assistance to adults 25 years with localised, skills focussed training and assistance to fill existing or future vacancies at the entry level in high priority industries.
This is in addition to their existing programs – Community Work Skills, Work Skills Traineeships, Get Set for Work, Ready for Work, Youth Skills and First Start.
The 2021-22 funding round is now open for community based organisations to make their application to deliver a local project. Applications close Thursday, 19 August 2021.
