The Logistics Magazine has recently published an article outlining the risks associated with operations in the materials handling area.
“Although the number of work-related fatalities in Australia has declined over recent years, they do still occur. It’s possible that many of these cases could have been avoided. Nobody wants to become a statistic, and nobody wants an accident to occur in their workplace. Yet, some employees can jeopardize their own safety and the safety of the public without proper training. One such area that requires safety training is materials handling.
Operating a forklift truck requires skill and strict adherence to safety measures. As a business owner, it’s your responsibility to ensure that you are providing your forklift operators with the necessary training and systems to keep them as safe as possible.”
There are several VET funded or subsidised qualifications that include forklift licensing and operation components, see below:
- Certificate II in Warehousing Operations (includes forklift operation and licensing) – funded under the Certificate 3 Guarantee Program
- Certificate III in Warehousing Operations (includes forklift operation and licensing) – funded under the User Choice Program and Certificate 3 Guarantee Program
- Certificate IV in Warehousing Operations (includes forklift operation and licensing) – funded under the Higher Level Skills Program
- Certificate III in Logistics (includes forklift operation and licensing) – funded under the Certificate 3 Guarantee Program
Why not check out whether some additional training might help you develop a safer workplace.
