The Rail Industry Reference Committee (IRC) has commenced work on the following projects and is looking for expressions of interest from industry experts to form Technical Advisory Committees (TAC).
- TLI (Rail) Rolling Stock Maintainer– development of a new Certificate in Rail Rolling Stock Maintainer Qualification, two new Units of Competency and three Skill Sets, that will enable rail transport operators to develop in-house basic maintenance capabilities for rail rolling stock and preventative maintenance.
- TLI (Rail) Track Protection – review and develop the Certificate II and III in Track Protection and address the move away from lookouts, flags, hand, or light signals to automated protection devices or audible warning devices.
- TLI (Rail) Train Driving – review and develop the Certificate II in Shunting, Certificate III in Rail Driving, Terminal Train Driving and Certificate IV in Train Driving qualifications to update and align the qualifications with new and emerging technologies.
- TLI (Rail) Yard Coordination – review and develop the Certificate III in Rail Yard Coordination to update and align the qualification with new plus emerging technologies, including advances made in rail signalling and autonomous and remotely operated rail vehicles. It will also integrate the Certificate III in Rail Signalling (TLI32615).
