The National Cabinet has agreed on a new Domestic Border Control Freight Movement Protocol, also endorsed by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee. It has been developed to keep freight moving around Australia while minimising risks to workers and the community from COVID-19 transmission. The protocol applies to drivers of any heavy vehicles over 4.5 GVM, support workers essential to the supply chain (see protocol for definition) and rail crew.

Premiers and First Ministers have agreed that state and territory governments will put measures in place to ensure the protocols can be enforced as a code for industry.
