The Maritime Training Package Release 8.0 has been endorsed by the Skills Ministers for implementation.

The Maritime Industry Reference Committee has led the development of new and revised materials relating to dredging and linesperson operations, which supports the mobility of skilled workers, opportunities for professional development, and addresses safety and regulatory requirements.

  • Dredging Operations – a new Skill Set and Unit of Competency addresses the skills and knowledge requirements for seafarers with a focus on safety standards to undertake maintenance and capital dredging operations in Australian territorial waters.
  • Maritime Operations Linesperson – one qualification and seven Units of Competency have been revised to address the skills and knowledge required to conduct a range of tasks in vessel mooring and un-mooring operations, including working with automated line equipment and adhering to workplace health safety, emergency, and security procedures.

To support the delivery of the Training Package, a Companion Volume Implementation Guide (CVIG) has been developed to assist assessors, trainers, Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) and enterprises. The CVIG contains a comprehensive list of all products in the Training Package; mapping information which details the changes that have been made to the materials; regulation and licensing implications; and useful links to other information.
