The National Transport Commission (NTC) has released the HVNL review consultation regulation impact statement (RIS) which includes over 40 reform options to improve the Heavy Vehicle National Law.
The structure of each chapter in the RIS includes a description of the problem, an explanation of possible options to address the problem, an assessment of the costs and benefits of the option and a list of questions for consideration.
They have also released a complementary document to support the RIS – HVNL 2.0 – A better law scenario, designed to be read alongside the RIS as a short-form description of one possible scenario for the future law.
The National Transport Commission is taking a flexible approach to consultation and will host a range of online engagement sessions and, as practical, face-to-face meetings over the coming months. There are a range of ways you can get involved:
- Make a submission via the ‘Have your say‘ link on the NTC website, comments due 25 October 2020.
- Visit the HVNL review microsite for polls, surveys and a message board
- Register your interest for an online forum via the microsite or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
