BHP and the Department of Education, Skills and Employment have come together to form the Future of Work Program and promote skills development in regional Australia.

This program is designed to prepare people to become the regional workforce of the future. It will create 1,000 skills development opportunities by funding students undertaking short courses and advanced apprenticeships in key regional areas.

Eligible students will gain a unique opportunity to have their student contribution fee for their course covered by the Future of Work Program and may also be eligible for assistance relating to other expenses.

The Future of Work short course program is available to students currently enrolled or considering enrolling in a short course (Undergraduate Certificate or Graduate Certificate) who live in the Bowen Basin and Mackay regions in Queensland.

Head to Course Seeker to find Graduate Certificates and Undergraduate Certificates that are available online or at a provider near you.

Applications for Round 2 of the program close 16 April 2020.

Round 3 applications open 17 May 2021 and close 25 June 2021.

There will also be an advanced apprenticeship program with further information to be updated on the website in early May 2021.
