The Australasian Railway Association (ARA) is pleased to announce that Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now open for two female and two male vacancies on the ARA’s Young Leaders Advisory Board (Y-LAB).
Each position is for a period of two years; March 2020 to March 2022 with the first meeting scheduled in Sydney on Tuesday 3 March.
Established at the beginning of this year, Y-LAB consists of eight under-35 year olds from eight different ARA member companies throughout the Australian and New Zealand rail industry.
This year’s inaugural Y-LAB participated in the ARA Board Strategy Day where the future direction of the ARA was set, implemented an industry survey to identify why current employees joined rail, completed a focus group to contribute to ARA-commissioned market research to understand drivers and barriers for entrants to rail, participated in and spoke at a variety of ARA events including presenting a first-year brief at AusRAIL PLUS and various components of the Future Leaders program, received in-principle support from the ARA Board to explore the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and establishment of an app to standardise terminology as Y-LAB priorities to champion in 2020 and more.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the future direction of rail in Australasia at a whole-of-industry level, to engage with ARA Board members and other young industry leaders and contribute to the priorities of a youth agenda for the ARA.
