Closing Tuesday 31 May 2022.   

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for the AVI Commercial Pilot Helicopter project has considered all stakeholder feedback and revised draft Training Package materials to address priority skill needs, operational efficiency and safety of commercial helicopter pilots. This includes updates to:

  • The Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence – Helicopter) has been aligned with current industry practice and CASA license requirements (Aviation Safety Regulation (CASR) Part 61 Flight crew licensing)
  • A new unit Conduct helicopter Pre-Solo Exercises has been developed through merging Taxi helicopter and Control helicopter on the ground units.
  • Another new unit Operate helicopter solo in the circuit area has been developed through the merger of Control helicopter in hovering flight and Take off helicopter and approach to hover units.
  • The remaining six Helicopter Units of Competency have been updated to align with CASA Manual of Standards.

Feedback is invited to validate these draft materials and ensure the proposed products meet industry needs and can be submitted up to close of business Tuesday 31 May 2022.
