The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) for the AVI Aviation Supervision project has released draft training materials and is inviting feedback.

Security Screening Supervisors are needed to supervise the implementation of aviation security preventive measures and monitor the quality of the performance of various tasks which contribute to the safety and security of passengers, crew, ground personnel, and the general public.

A new Security Screening Supervision specialisation stream has been added to the Certificate IV in Aviation (Aviation Supervision), comprising four new units that address the required skills and knowledge for supervisors to:

  • Coordinate response to security incidents and breaches
  • Interpret and implement transport security policies and procedures
  • Facilitate screening of people with special considerations
  • Manage aviation security screening equipment

The TAC has also included an imported unit CPPSEC4004 Supervise security operations as part of this qualification specialisation.

Draft materials for the proposed new Flight Operations Supervision stream are currently at the validation stage.

Feedback is invited up to close of business Friday 6 May 2022.
